Climate-smart investment in Ligna Energy

LiU Invest invests a quarter of a million in the battery technology company Ligna Energy AB. Ligna Energy develops battery technology based on organic materials.

Green, large-scale and cost-effective storage of electricity is a prerequisite for the transition to a fossil-free society. Ligna Energy offers a cost-effective and climate-friendly solution for large-scale energy storage that promotes an accelerated transition towards fossil-free energy production globally. The company is based on research at Linköping University and develops technology to enable large-scale batteries based on organic electronic polymers and biopolymers from the forest that are produced with a regular paper machine.

- For us, it is important to maintain the connection to Linköping University and we are therefore happy to have brought in LiU Invest as an investor, says Mattias Josephson, entrepreneur and one of the co-founders of Ligna Energy AB.
