LiU Invest invests in Worldish AB

Worldish is developing a tool to bridge language barriers between staff and patients in healthcare. The app is being tested at several different clinics and the investment will be used to get the app into commercial operation

Worldish is developing a two-page translation app that will solve, for example, the following problem: Imagine a person who recently fled Syria and comes into a Swedish emergency clinic with severe chest pains. The person has insufficient knowledge of Swedish and English, no one in the staff is fluent in Arabic and it is difficult to get someone who can interpret.

The doctor or nurse then instead picks out a couple of tablets with a tailored language app. They ask questions that are displayed and read out in Arabic to the patient, who in turn sends back answers that are understood by the staff. They can quickly call in what the problem is, make a diagnosis and start treatment without unnecessary delay.

The scene above is just one example of how a new tool for communication across language boundaries can make a difference in healthcare.

The app is being tested at several different clinics and the investment will be used to get the app into commercial operation.
