Ligna Energy AB

    • Tekniska fakulteten, Institutionen för teknik och naturvetenskap

Ligna Energy manufactures batteries from sustainable materials and wood raw materials. By using organic materials from nature, you get green, safe, and sustainable energy storage. The company has its origins in the research conducted within the technical faculty at the ITN department at Linköping University. The lignin used in the production of Ligna Energy’s batteries is a residual stream from the forest industry and is currently used only as biofuel. In addition to lignin, the batteries contain water-based electrolytes, carbon, and organic polymers. This makes it easy to dispose of used batteries and you can, for example, use them as biofuel and burn them up, as is done today with lignin. Ligna Energy has a strong collaboration with the laboratory for organic electronics at Linköping University and with the research institute RISE.
