LiU Invest makes an additional investment in PUsensor AB
LiU Invest invests additional money in PUsensor together with new and existing investors. The investment is to be used for industrialization and CE-marking of the company's product
PUsensor is based on research into pressure ulcers at Linköping University. Pressure ulcers cause both great suffering and substantial costs in care. PUsensor develops a device to assess the risk of a patient developing pressure ulcers. For patients at risk, preventive measures can be implemented early, before the patient develops pressure ulcers, thus reducing both suffering and costs.
The company has developed and together with healthcare providers tested a prototype of a blood flow meter that can determine the risk of developing pressure ulcers. The results from the tests have been positive and the company is therefore taking in capital to industrialize and CE mark the product.
Pressure ulcers are common in large parts of healthcare, not just hospital care. Up to one in six hospitalized patients today suffer from pressure ulcers, something that creates great suffering and requires large resources from healthcare. The market consists of both public and private healthcare providers, such as hospitals and nursing homes.
